If you protect your jewellery and take care of it, it should last a lifetime. By protect, we mean no hairspray, perfume, saunas, hot-tubs, showers, oceans or pools (plus a few others, but we feel fairly certain you aren't planning to wear your finest when near toxic dump sites). We know that sounds like a lot of no-no's, but chemicals in these substances tarnish, corrode and damage jewellery. By taking care, we mean placing jewellery in a jewellery box (no dumping or throwing about); keeping it out of direct sunlight and extreme temperatures; and not twisting clasps, sitting on bracelets or bending posts. All easy and logical things to do.

Silver tarnishes. It happens naturally. You can prevent this by keeping your silver jewellery in an anti-tarnish jewellery box or case, or a sealed plastic bag. When your silver does what all silver does and begins to tarnish, simply wipe a tarnish cloth over the item and watch it sparkle like new.

One last note about gold plated jewellery because we are asked this a lot. Gold plating wears off over time (even if you follow our instructions). We use gold plating because gold is really, really expensive and outside of most budgets. The good news is that you can easily gold plate again.
